One standard lot is 100,000 units (100 oz for gold), a mini lot is 0.1 lot and a micro lot is 0.01 lot. Values marked "exact" need no conversion. The others use the exchange rate shown in the last column, taken from the ECB reference rates for 2026-10-23 (source: ECB statistics). These are daily rates for information only, so the values are for orientation. For an exact figure at the current rate, use the pip value calculator.

How to read the table
Each row shows what a one-pip move is worth for a trade in that pair, in your account currency, for three common sizes. A standard lot is 100,000 units, a mini lot is 10,000 and a micro lot is 1,000. Gold is shown for a standard lot of 100 ounces.
The pip size is the price step that counts as one pip: 0.0001 for most pairs, 0.01 for pairs that include the Japanese yen, and 0.1 for gold. Your broker may show an extra digit, a pipette, which is a tenth of a pip.
How the values are worked out
- Pip value in the quote currency = pip size × position size in units.
- Convert it to your account currency. If the quote currency is already your account currency, nothing needs converting and the value is exact.
- If the base currency is your account currency, divide by the pair's price. Otherwise multiply by how much one unit of the quote currency is worth in your account currency.
Why some values are only approximate
Pairs whose quote currency is not your account currency depend on an exchange rate that changes all day. The table uses a fixed, rough rate for each one and shows it in the last column. The result is close enough to compare pairs and to get a feel for the numbers, but it is not the figure your trading platform will show at a given moment.
Tips
- Use the pip value calculator for an exact value at the current rate, or to enter a custom position size.
- Check your broker's contract specification, especially for gold, indices and exotic pairs, where the contract size and the pip definition can differ.
- To turn a risk amount into a lot size, use the position size calculator. The pip value per lot is one of its inputs.
- Pairs with the same quote currency as your account currency are the simplest to reason about, because their pip value never changes.
Frequently asked questions
+What is the pip value of EUR/USD?
In a USD account one pip is worth $10 for a standard lot, $1 for a mini lot and $0.10 for a micro lot. The same is true for any pair quoted in US dollars, such as GBP/USD, AUD/USD and NZD/USD.
+Why do pairs with the yen have a different pip value?
A pip on yen pairs is 0.01 instead of 0.0001, and the value is first worked out in yen. For one standard lot that is 1,000 yen, which is then converted to your account currency, so in dollars it is only a few dollars and moves with the exchange rate.
+Why are some values marked as approximate?
When the pair's quote currency is not your account currency, the pip value has to be converted at the current exchange rate, and the rate keeps moving. The table uses a rough fixed rate, shown in the last column, so use the pip value calculator when you need an exact number.
+Does the pip value change with my account currency?
Yes. A pip is worth the same amount in the pair's quote currency, but its value in your own currency depends on the exchange rate between the two. Choose your account currency above to see the table in it.
+How do I use the pip value for a trade?
Multiply the pip value by the number of pips you expect to win or lose. A 30 pip stop on one mini lot of EUR/USD in a USD account is 30 × $1 = $30 of risk before spread and slippage.
